i'm gone for 6 weeks.

so i probably won't be updating much or checking this.
i'm sorry if I don't check my watches, but they have a tendency to build up extremely fast.
i won't be bringing my SLR with me, so i probably won't get that many pictures. I just don't want it to get stolen after waiting so long just to get one in the first place.
instead, i'll be using my film camera again, which i'm kind of excited about.
anyhow, i hope your summer will be good. :]
see you in late july.

...even though not much is going on, really.
I'm starting to start planning for summer, because it seems to be approaching, if very cautiously (as I'm writing this, it's snowing outside & we're expecting to get a couple inches by tomorrow T_T).
I'm taking college courses this summer in a pretty decent sized city near Lake Superior, so I'm hoping I'll get some decent pictures of both the lake & the surrounding urban areas. They have this program that my friend told me about for people to 'experience' college a bit. I'm going to be staying in the dorms for 6 weeks, if my plans all work out. Right now I'm just looking for any excuse to take a break from my family for a bit. I'm sure some of you understand.
One more quarter of school left, starting next week.
I'm happy that this year is ending, & I learned a lot during it.
High school has been fun, & I'm glad to be finishing my first year now.
This summer I'm hoping to go to a couple concerts. I'm possibly going to Warped Tour with friends, even though I don't listen to the majority of the bands on it. It'll still be fun, I'm sure. I am also thinking of getting guitar lessons this summer, & possibly fencing lessons. Yes, you heard me. I've been wanting them for a long time.
My dad has also considered going on a trip this summer, like we were supposed to go on last summer (& the year before that...). This is the trip I was talking about last year, if you remember. To California, via motorcycle.
My mom is also thinking about going on a trip, so in general, I'm hoping to do a lot of traveling this summer. I'm excited. Good opportunities for pictures, I'm sure!
I'm hoping to update my gallery a bit more soon with some newer stuff, but I've been kinda busy with everything. I want to work on some concepts I've thought of in the last couple weeks. I've had a lot of inspiration lately for both photography & other art. I just haven't had time.
What else...
I'm reading "Youth in Revolt" by CD Payne & it's hilarious so far. I suggest you read it, but only if you're immune to excessive amounts of suggestive (funny, but not obscene in this case) stuff.
Not much has really been going on right now. I'm just in the homestretch towards summer vacation, which ends up being rather tedious & uneventful, for the most part. Maybe that's better, the fact that some drama has died down.

soooo.
I haven't written in this for a rather long time.
All has been doing rather well.
I haven't had many chances to use my camera lately, however.
I blame that on cold weather & my increasing disinterest in most nature photography.
I also apologize for the onslaught of self portraits & what not.
No one else is willing to let me take pictures of them. & I need practice.
My sister says it's 'creepy' to take pictures of people.
I do not agree.
I should be working on some new shots soon, & more paintings.
Like I said, it's been cold. I have a hard time motivating myself to get up & away from the comfy fireplace, quilt & Edgar Allan Poe Stories.
Perhaps you understand.
I need to invest in a macro lens. It would also be nice to purchase a telephoto lens & a fisheye, but I'm running short on pennies in the bank. Perhaps I can get a deal for a used one or something, but it'll be awhile.
I also want to experiment with some film again. I'm thinking about getting a 50's Kodak film camera. Possibly a few other cameras.
Once again, I'm getting super excited for spring & summer to come. To the point where I've been going on bike rides almost daily & freezing to death, as well as recieving many "you're crazy" looks from many drivers who do not want to brave 10 degree weather.
It almost makes me mad how everyone in other states & such are preparing for spring, when the snow is finally gone from the ground around here in about March or April.
Hola, "calendar spring", as we call it.
Regardless, this school year has gone by so fast so far, & I've learned some real important lessons.
p.s: valentines day sucks. It's a fantastic holiday for making certain people feel completely shitty & unwanted.

NEW CAMERA !!!!

So, I figured I'll be raving about this all over for awhile, but I finally got a new camera!
It's a Nikon D40 with a SB-600 flash adaption & I love it to death already.
I'm so incredibly excited about this right now, & I can't wait to see what I'll do with it :]
Hopefully, once I get the hang of the digital, I can work more with film & some older cameras, because I love those a lot & the artistic nature of them.
I'm so happy right now. I haven't had a camera of my own for over 6 months, so I'm happy that I can finally get my inspirations out & into some completed works. Watch for some new stuff soon, as well as possibly some more paintings.
